1.Material Information
Cordyceps is a complex of Cordyceps sinensis and bat moth larvae.
In the wild environment, the larvae are infected by mycelium of cordyceps, and the cordyceps will parasitize and invade the larvae and grow into an entity (fruiting body) with larvae body as nutrition.
Generally, Cordyceps cultured in pupa is called Cordyceps militaris.
Cultured Cordyceps sinensis, or cordyceps flower, the culture medium is made up of grains, proteins and other nutrients in imitation of natural larvae or pupa. Cordyceps sinensis is a kind of fungus, which is similar to Lentinus edodes, but its culture environment, strain(seed) and culture conditions are different.
CS is the English abbreviation of Cordyceps sinensis. During the research and development of Cordyceps, researchers selected the most effective "No.4" strain(seed) which is closest to the wild Cordyceps, called CS-4. (CS-4 is a strain isolated from wild Cordyceps sinensis in Tibet, it’s also named Paecilomyces batmoth.)
Normally cordyceps extract are sourced from mycelium or fruiting body of Cordyceps sinensis, or fruiting body of Cordyceps militaris.
